The founders of Aston Martin felt that a sports car should be built “to the highest standards and be exhilarating to drive and own,” and the hand-built Aston Martin DB5, was spot-on. Built from ‘63-‘65, its engine was enlarged to a 4.0L from the DB-4’s 3.7, and its five-speed transmission and triple carbs could propel the car to a top speed of 141 mph.
