Called the "gentleman's hot rod" the Olds began life with a comfortible suspension and luxurious interior. Then it got fun, the 445 cubic inch engine with 4-barrel carburetor was stuffed in, and 2 huge dual exhaust pipes were stuck-out. Hence the 4-4-2 nameplate. The Olds 442 had the largest displacement engine in a mid-sized car for 1969.
