American Motors was astutely aware of the burgeoning muscle car market in the mid-'60s, so it began working to crank out the bigger engines that helped define the movement. The "AMX," short for American Motors Experimental, was introduced in 1968 with a standard 290, but with the addition of the optional "Go Package," the power plant could be bumped up to either 342 or 390 cid. The '69 model added an enticing 140 mph speedometer and larger tach. Just as enticing is the pearlescent Aqua finish on this beauty!
