The Samba Bus was a variant of the Volkswagen Type 2, introduced in 1950 and considered by many to be the forerunner of modern cargo and passenger vans. Built from 1950-1967, the VW Bus became a major symbol of the American counterculture during the hippie-era of the ’60s. The Samba was unique in that it topped off the VW Bus with skylight windows and a cloth sunroof.
