May 1945, the war was over! The Beetle had survived, and now was poised to lead the industrial renaissance of the new democratic West Germany. The 1950 beetle appeared on the automotive landscape with a number of advancements, mainly a hydraulic braking system. Also included in the new offerings were a cloth sunroof, 2-ashtrays and a new more effective heater. In 1950, the Wolfsburg plant also rolled-out 1000,000th Beetle, The little bug was on its way!
